Lifelong Learning in collaboration with Safety and Learning Techniques (SaLT) provide a range of online learning programs for when leadership, and work, health and safety (WHS) intersect in the workplace.
For example, when the West Australian work health safety legislation harmonised in March, 2022 the regulator included statutory positions into the legislation to seek an uptick in supervisory (leadership) capability and embed a sound risk mindset.
These positions are listed in Schedule 26 of the Mining Regulations, and require training and assessment through the existing Vocational Education and Training (VET) network via Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that sit within a regulated quality framework.
The Statutory Supervisor comprises two units of competency at AQF Level 4 (equivalent of a Certificate IV level qualification) with the Key Statutory Positions building on from this with an AQF Level 5 (Diploma level) additional risk unit. The two units within the Statutory Supervisor count toward the full Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety should any participants wish to complete the full qualification.
