Town of Toodyay
On Wednesdays the train, which is called the MerredinLink arrives at Toodyay around 10:07am.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the AvonLink does this special run from East Perth to Merredin and back.
This provides those in the City a wonderful opportunity to get on the train, enjoy the journey through the valley and spend a day in the Country.
When you arrive, we will meet and greet you at the Train Station and escort you on a gentle walk up the lane way through the Memorial Gardens, where you can literally smell the roses while feeling the nostalgia of family members lost in the war.
The walk from the Train Station with its history and surrounds is sure to impress your senses.
Magic of Mosaics
Once at the property of Lifelong Learning you will feel the magic immediately.
Here, you can wander the gardens breathing in the fresh country air while taking in the beauty of the mosaic pieces that are sure to impress.
There is an entire mosaic wall – we call it the Magic Wall, stepping stones, many pots, wall art and lots of tables.
You can take a wander through the SHED, where you will see the many projects that our artisan participants are working on.
The magic of mosaics may even inspire you to want to participate in a workshop yourself.
TEA House Tables
After you have taken in the wonderful array of mosaics scattered about the property, and you are seated, your Mid-Tea is served.
The Mid-Tea option comprises scones (jam and cream), and sangas (sandwiches).
This is a lovely light lunch to nourish you for the walk around Town where you will take in some of the historical buildings as well as enjoy the many shops along main street.
All our food is house-made by our very own Chef.
Town Walk
When you have finished your Mid-Tea, and are feeling comfortable, we wander up the road to the Toodyay Museum, where the wonderful volunteers will take you on a tour of the Newcastle Police Precinct. This is where our very own Toodyay Bushranger, Moondyne Joe cemented his legendary status with his infamous gaol escape.
From the museum we will meander into Town for the shopping strip wander, starting with the Christmas 360 Shop. There are many gorgeous shops to poke your head into and take a peek at the wares on offer.
We will end up at Connor’s Mill, a wonderful historic building on the edge of Town just near the Train Station. The Visitor Centre volunteers will take you on tour of the Mill where you will see the steam powered milling operations of the old flour factory
The Train Station is just a hop, step and jump from Connor’s Mill where you will need to be back 15 minutes before the train arrives at 3:14pm – to take you back to East Perth.
