H is for Happy

The Dalai Lama famously said, “The purpose of our lives is to be happy.” This simple yet profound statement speaks to the core of what many of us are seeking—true, lasting happiness.

But happiness, as the Dalai Lama reminds us, isn’t something we acquire through external achievements or material success. It’s not a fleeting emotion dependent on temporary circumstances. Instead, happiness is an inner state that can be cultivated through mental well-being and inner peace.

So, how do we cultivate happiness?

The key lies in how we approach life. By practicing thankfulness, mindfulness, and compassion, we shift our perspective away from the things we lack and focus on the abundance already present. Being happy becomes a choice, a mindset that we carry with us in every moment, rather than something we chase.

Lifelong learning plays a vital role in this process. The more we understand ourselves and the world around us, the more empowered we become to shape our own happiness. Learning new ways to manage stress, build relationships, or improve emotional resilience can lead to a more joyful, fulfilling life.

In the words of the Dalai Lama, “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”
