Social wellness is the ability to interact with people around you.

It involves using good communications skills, having meaningful relationships, respecting yourself and others, and creating a solid support system that includes family and friends. Coupled with emotional wellness, social wellness equips us to engage with people at all levels and resolve issues along the way should any present.

Social connections don’t happen by themselves. No matter how much you wish for or think about a bigger, better social life and social wellness; a thought by itself isn’t going to make this happen.

Here are five (5) things you can do right now to increase your social wellness:

  1. Join interest groups such as a book or bridge club. Learn to dance, play golf or knit. Take cooking or wine appreciation classes.
  2. Better understand your personal needs and pursue things and people who nurture those needs.
  3. Identify those people that have a positive impact on your life and seek them out more often.
  4. Practise listening more and talking less. Ask questions to create bigger understanding.
  5. Hug more. It also improves your spiritual, emotional, social and physical wellness.

Visit the Workshops page and join us for a Long Lunch or other workshops that will enhance your wellness.
